METALLIZED FILM
Metallized HDPE Film | 30–125 μm Heat-Sealable Barrier Film
Metallized HDPE film combines a high-density polyethylene base web with a vacuum-deposited aluminum layer. It is the stiffest of the metallized PE grades: the higher crystallinity of HDPE gives the base web rigidity and dimensional stability that softer PE films cannot match, while the metallized layer adds light barrier without sacrificing the heat sealability buyers choose PE for.
On converting lines, stiffness is not an abstract property — it shows up as flatness. A flat, stable web registers consistently in printing, laminates without wrinkles, and runs cleanly on high-speed form-fill-seal equipment. For buyers running wide webs or tight-tolerance processes, that stability directly affects yield.
Because the base is PE, the film heat-seals directly in many structures, so a separate sealant web is often unnecessary. In PE-dominant or mono-material-oriented packaging, metallized HDPE can function as both the barrier and the sealant layer in a single web, simplifying the structure.
Thickness lineup
Available in 30-125 μm. The 30 μm gauge suits cost-sensitive, high-volume applications with moderate stiffness requirements.
Width, corona treatment side, and roll specifications: to be confirmed.
Where it fits
- Food packaging — pouches, sachets, and lidding where a stiff, flat barrier web runs cleanly on high-speed lines
- Daily-chemical packaging — sachets and refill pouches requiring moisture protection and a neat, reliable seal
- Thermal insulation packaging — barrier or reflective layer in insulation packaging and lamination, where web rigidity aids handling of large-format material
Working with metallized HDPE
Like all metallized films, the aluminum layer is thin and is normally protected inside a laminated structure rather than used as a surface layer. If you plan to print or adhesive-laminate, confirm the treatment level and treatment side with our team when requesting a quote, so the web you receive matches your process.
