Barrier considered as a structure

A metallized layer may support light and barrier discussions, but the finished laminate, adhesive, seals, package geometry, and test method determine the achieved result.

Packaging performance is confirmed on the finished laminate and pack.

Metallized PET, BOPP, and CPP can be considered within flexible packaging structures when an opaque metallic appearance or a barrier contribution is needed. The appropriate base depends on the converting route and the role of the web in the total construction.

No film name alone confirms shelf life, oxygen or water-vapor transmission, sealing, or food-contact suitability. Those questions need the final layer stack, inks and adhesives, packed product, destination-market rules, and agreed test method.
